Three Steps to Fresh Milk

Here's what makes this different. In Utah, there are two ways to get raw milk. One is through a licensed dairy. The other is a herdshare — you buy into the herd, become a co-owner of the cows, and the milk they produce is already yours. We're a micro operation — two cows, three guys — and the herdshare is how we've chosen to stay compliant and keep things small and personal. We know "room and board for your cow" sounds unusual, but that's exactly what it is. It's the structure that lets us bring the best quality milk straight to your family. No processing plant. No middleman. Your cow, your milk.

1

Choose Your Shares

Pick how many shares you want. One share gets you about one gallon of milk per week. The more shares you own, the more milk you take home.

2

Sign Your Agreement

You'll sign a Bovine Bill of Sale and an Agistment Agreement. That makes you a legal co-owner of the herd. It takes five minutes.

3

Get Your Milk

We deliver to American Fork and Lehi on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Your milk will be chilled and ready. Bring a cooler — that's it.

A Cow From a Friend Changed Everything

Moroni spent decades inside Hollywood — storyboarding The Iron Giant, the Ice Age movies, Super Mario, Quest for Camelot, the Minion films. He drew imaginary worlds for a living. Then a friend in Connecticut gave him a cow. Something clicked. He left Hollywood, moved to Spring City, Utah, and started building something real.

Then Moroni gave Brill a cow. Same thing clicked.

Then Pablo saw what they had — not the cows, the life — and said "I want in."

That's how Hygge Dairy started. Not a business plan. Not a market opportunity. A gift that kept getting passed on. One cow at a time, one family at a time.

We're not a brand. We're three guys who found something worth sharing and figured our neighbors might want the same thing. If you have questions, you'll talk to us. Not a support team. Us.

The Herd is Growing

Buttercup just had a calf. That's the thing about a herdshare — you're not buying into a static product. You're part of a living, growing farm. New calves, new seasons, new batches of cheese. It changes week to week, and you're along for all of it.

This is what $48 a month looks like. Not a logo on a carton. A calf in a barn, a farmer who knows your name, and milk that was in the bulk tank this morning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you should know before joining the herd.

A herdshare means you buy into our herd and become a co-owner of the cows. The milk they produce is already yours — we're not selling it to you. We know "paying room and board for your cow" sounds unusual, but that's exactly what it is. It's the legal structure under Utah law that lets us bring the best quality, unprocessed milk straight to your family. No processing plant, no middleman — just your cow, your milk.
In Utah, there are two ways to get raw milk legally. One is a licensed raw dairy — a permitted operation that can sell milk directly. The other is a herdshare — you buy ownership in the herd, and the milk your cows produce is yours. We're a micro operation. Two cows, three guys, 175 shares. A herdshare is the way we've chosen to stay compliant and keep things small and personal. You own part of the herd, we take care of the cows, and you take home your milk. That's it.
$48 per share, per month. No sign-up fee. You're charged right away when you join, and then automatically on the 1st of every month going forward. The monthly fee covers feed, care, milking, facilities, and delivery to American Fork or Lehi. One share gets you about one gallon of milk per week.
Each share yields approximately one gallon per week. The exact amount depends on what the herd actually produces — some weeks it's a little more, some a little less. That's real farming, not a factory.
We'll be straight with you: the CDC and FDA do not recommend consuming raw (unpasteurized) milk. Raw milk can contain harmful bacteria and pathogens. We take every precaution — clean facilities, healthy cows, rapid chilling to 40°F — but the risk is never zero. Every herdshare member signs a full risk acknowledgment before joining. We believe in informed choice, not hidden fine print.
We deliver to American Fork and Lehi on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Your milk will be chilled and ready in single-use jugs we provide — have a cooler ready. You have a 2-day window after your scheduled date. Milk not claimed within that window may be disposed of.
Yes. Let us know in advance who's receiving it. We only release milk to you or to someone you've authorized.
Yes, by appointment. You and your immediate family are welcome to visit the herd and see the facilities. Just contact us to schedule a time — we want to make sure someone's available to walk you around. Drop-ins aren't possible for biosecurity and safety reasons.
Either party can terminate with 10 days' written notice by email or mail. No cancellation fees.
No — your monthly fee covers your share of the milk only. Cheese, butter, yogurt, and other dairy products are sold separately in our shop. As a herdshare member you get first notice when new products are available, before anyone else.
We make cheese, butter, yogurt, and other dairy products from the same herd — available for separate purchase in our shop. We also sell Hygge Dairy merchandise (tees, hats, crewnecks). Raw milk is only available through the herdshare.
We are not certified organic. Certification is expensive and designed for large operations. Here's what we actually do: our cows are pasture-raised and fed a predominantly grass and hay diet. We never sell milk from a cow being treated with antibiotics — any treated animal is pulled from the milk line and tested before returning. We keep our facilities clean and our herd healthy. You can see all of this in person.
Predominantly pasture, hay, and forage. Diet varies with the season and climate conditions. No growth hormones. We're a small herd — two cows — and we manage their nutrition carefully.
Our cows roam on pasture. They receive regular health monitoring and veterinary care. Our facilities are kept clean with controlled rodent, fly, and manure management. We don't crowd animals, don't use growth hormones, and don't cut corners on care. Our Farm Operating Standards are attached to every member agreement, and members can ask to see them at any time.
The fee may be adjusted up to twice per calendar year to cover increased costs, but increases are capped at 10% per year. If any adjustment happens, you'll be informed in advance.
